A Church Without Walls

Fulfilling the Christian mission - ministering and making disciples for Jesus Christ - in the 21st century requires engaging people in new ways and in new places. The Christian Church must move beyond the security of its buildings to spread its message into the communities that it serves. This is not an entirely new phenomenon: Jesus spent his ministerial years traveling to meet people in their environs.

There is tremendous promise in realizing a vision called "A Church Without Walls". The objective is to increase the quality of Christian churches by growing and strengthening ministries in new ways through the application of modern information technology. Realization of this vision will require churches to re-examine their information systems. The typical church has an external-facing website that provides a static view into the church, and has back office systems for administering the business end of the church. But what about the middle - members and seekers - which is the heart of the church?

A social discipleship system connects members dynamically and securely for the purpose of Christian fellowship, learning, and completing the work of the church.

The result? A Church without walls.
